The blade has two barbs, hēngel, and is about 10 cm. long by 3 cm. wide at the shank end, tapering to a point. It has a round shank, ūtong, which is inserted loosely into a long arrow-grass cane, bilāu; a twisted cord is tied to the spear blade, wrapped around the upper part of the cane and tied securely to it.
