A class of sickness-imparting spirits.
Numerous spirits impart sicknesses that are of temporary duration. Each is identified by the particular sickness it imparts.

dumatong an mi'hu'hu'i ‘gives leg pains’

dumatong an mi'puputu ‘gives stomach aches’

A prayer for relief of sickness, prayed to sickness-imparting spirits.
A number of ritual prayers are used for the relief of sickness. Generally they involve ritualized narratives of how Būgan and Wīgan encountered sickness-imparting spirits and were taught by them how to perform rituals for the relief of sickness. Each prayer ends with an appeal to sickness-imparting spirits to remove a particular sickness for which the prayers are recited.
