A basket liner, especially of banana leaf material, dāun.
It is used to line a rice-fermenting basket, gamāta, taggi'i. The banana-leaf liner is wilted, lopa, to make it pliable. Into the lined basket is placed cooked glutinous rice, daya''ot, for the brewing process, īwa. A banana leaf liner is also used to cover the inside of an eating basket, tallū'u, or cooked rice storage basket, hū'up, before rice is placed into it.
