A girl's name.
According to traditional narratives, Būgan and Wīgan are wife and husband, living in Du'līgan. At the conclusion of a recitation by a ritualist, mumbā'i, describing the exploits of Būgan and Wīgan, a benediction is pronounced, usually beginning with something similar to the following:
Ūus! Bo'on man di ad Du'līgan hi dolan da Būgan ay Wīgan di pangiba'īa' an tun dolan da Magga' ay Indungdung hituh Balītang, hiyay pangiba'īa' ay da'yu.
Ūus! It is not in Du'līgan at the house of Būgan and Wīgan that I am reciting (this) ritual prayer but here in the house of Magga' and Indungdung here at Balītang, that's where I am reciting it to you (spirits).
The object is to appeal to the spirits to attribute to Magga' and Indungdung all the successes of Būgan and Wīgan related in the narrative. In traditional oral literature, Būgan is also the wife of Būlul, a rice-god spirit, and also the wife of Liddum, a Skyworld spirit.
