Traditionally all earnings within the village was by the job accomplished, as so many pigs or chickens for repairing a stone wall breach, goday. With the introduction of money as a basis of remuneration and experience in working in lowland areas, earning at a daily pay rate, ganal, has become a common method of paying for work accomplished. Workers transplanting rice, bogay, earn either rice, pāguy, or money, pihhu; harvesters, however, receive a harvest stipend, inlagbūan, and are not said to earn their remuneration. For large government work projects requiring subdivision of the work among many workers, earning is by the job contract, pakyaw.
