Yeast, used for fermenting rice beer.
Yeast is made as follows: roots of a grass, onwad, are dried and cut up finely. Rice grains are soaked, pounded, added to the roots and pounded together into a smooth paste. A small amount of yeast made previously is added to seed the mixture. It is then made into round balls and in five or six days is ready to be used as yeast.
