binnūlon
A roof-bearing disk and post of a traditional house, baluy, which supports the upper roof.
It resembles an inverted drop spindle, tabayan 1. The disk is about 45 - 60 cm. in diameter, and about 15 cm. thick at the center, tapering to 5 cm. at the circumference. Customarily, the disk is round, but sometimes it is oblong or square. On the disk are pegged the roof-ridge rafters, dūgu, and inside rafters, ulhud, which the roof-bearing disk and post supports. The roof-bearing post, tū'ud di binnūlon, is inserted through the center of the disk and rests on the center inside ceiling joist, dālag, into which it is morticed and extends up through the roof, onto which is tied the thatch capsheaf, bubung.
