A pinanga palm tree, genus Pinanga.
It has the following uses: for making utility ladders, ha'lang; digging bars, bo''a; arrow staff, tuggong; used instead of arrow-grass canes, bilāu; for wattle purlins, ībat; for a roof. Young shoots inside the upper sheath are eaten uncooked in the forest to stave off hunger; fruits are used as a substitute for betel nuts, mama, when the latter are unavailable.
