1
A crowbar; a crowbar tip, used to dig hard soil or pry rocks.
In past times crowbars were made from an extremely hard root, as that of the areca palm, mama, or gā'ad plant. At present, crowbars or crowbar tips are usually made of steel, as from a drill shaft used in mining, vehicle drive shaft. Some are entirely of steel but many, to economize, are made of a steel tip of from 25 - 45 cm., and with a wooden handle, ha'ālan. The overall length is about 100 cm.
