Evil spirits which bring bad luck or tempt people to sin.
Certain kinds of animals are said to be panolay or mangalok (people who have turned into witches) when they make noise at night. These include owls, crows, and the kirit-kirit bird. A person should try to scare them away by throwing stones or a using a piece of burning firewood.
