Foods eaten after giving birth.
This term refers to the various foods that a new mother
should eat after giving birth and before bathing for the first
time, which occurs nine days after delivery. Some people
believe that if she does not eat these foods, she might
become sick. This is because her stomach is not used to
eating these foods anymore, since some of them were not
eaten during the last months of pregnancy. For example, if
she does not eat toringan fish during the nine days, but
then eats it after bathing, she will have a relapse, begat.
This illness is remedied by taking a small part of the fish
and using it in the tapa healing ritual.
