To stay overnight at another person's house in order to keep
them company and help them.
Pagplanō rin ang manliton ta tang labi don ong
balay tang tangayo ang ba-lo lamang nangana.
I'm planning to stay
overnight one night at the house of my friend
who has just given birth.
Asing tokaw, mga may paranganaen ong pamilia
pamanliton tang mga mepet nira.
In the past, if there was a woman in the family about to give birth,
their older female relatives would
stay
overnight
and
attend
to
her.
This term was traditionally used to refer to staying overnight with a
woman who has just given birth, or with a sick person, or at the
home of someone who has just lost a loved one. The purpose was to
keep the person company and also to help them with things there in
the house.
